Where the fuck is she? Dragging the sheets from his bare body got of bed and headed straight to the bathroom. The door was open and it was quiet. She wasn't in there. Not bothering to put on s stitch of clothing he went stark naked to inspect the rest his apartment.

It took him all of five minutes to conclude that she was gone. When he walked down the stairs into the living room he saw that her things were gone. Anger and disappointment crept into his psyche.

She fucking left without a word. After last night! How the fuck could she just up and leave? He stormed back up the stairs to the bedroom slamming the door shut behind him. Looking over at the bed a calm suddenly came over him. He saw the blood on the bed. Suddenly he came to realization why she left.

She was scared and probably embarrassed. Taking a deep sigh he walked over to the bed and sat on the edge where Mya was sleeping so peacefully just hours earlier.

The memory of their lovemaking was still fresh in his mind. They way she responded to him, how right she felt in his arms and the way she said his name as she climaxed over and over again. He felt some solace knowing that he had given her pleasure and lots of it.

Running both his hands through his head in frustration he got up and walked over to the wardrobe. He pulled out some sweat pants, a shirt and hoodie. A quick shower and a trip to the gym was in order. Then he’ll be in a better frame of mind to deal with Mya. Maybe his workout will lead in the general direction of her place.

By the time Mya arrived home fifteen minutes after leaving Merrick’s condo, she was exhausted both mentally and physically. During the drive thoughts of the night with Merrick played over and over in her head.

When she finally arrived home she had already decided that tea and a long hot bath were the two things she desperately needed. She walked through the door dropped her keys, bag and jacket on the ground and headed straight to the bathroom. Walking over to the copper tub situated in the center of the bathroom, she turned the water on, making it hotter than usual and added lavender essential oil and bath salts.

Stripping the dress from her exhausted body she sunk into the soothing water. Unfortunately, her mind was not so easily soothed. Merrick…. You will have to face him eventually. Maybe you shouldn't have just left. Maybe you shouldn't have fucked him. Maybe you should fuck him again. Yes, that wouldn't be so bad. Ill call him, no Ill send him a text after my bath. Just to let him know I’m ok…

While she was in the process of contemplating her next move, Merrick was making his way to her front door. He never made it to the gym he needed to make sure Mya was ok. He got to her place and saw her car parked out front.

At least I know she made it home…good. Now I can wring her pretty fucking neck. Then…fuck her hard. Or maybe I will fuck her hard while wring her neck. Walking into the building the doorman offered assistance only to be ignored. He pressed the elevator button and waited for the doors to open.

Stepping into the elevator he took a few deep breaths and pressed 10. The building was a ten-story luxury condominium complex only one person per floor, 24-hour security, doormen and all the perks that come with being among the city’s most prestigious.

He wondered if it was wise showing up like this but right now there was no time to second-guess his actions. The elevator stopped on 10 and he stepped out and paused wondering if she would be glad he came. Fuck it. Walking to the door he rang the bell.

Mya dipped her head backwards into the water allowing it to saturate her long sable hair. The water seemed to melt away all the angst she was feeling about Merrick and the aches in her body.

When the bell rang she had just got up and turned the shower on to rinse off. Stepping out of the tub she grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her hair, then reached for a red silk robe behind the door pulling it on. It wasn't the one she intended to grab but she was rushing to get the door.

The robe clung to her wet skin doing more to reveal than conceal her body she held it closed with one hand. Walking to the door she opened it wider than she intended. It was Merrick. The anger he felt previously seemed to instantaneously dissipate once he laid eyes on her. The robe she was wearing clung to her body revealing every curve. The sight of her standing there wet made his heart skip a beat.

She was still wet; obviously she just came out of the shower. He recalled how she looked wet and naked, his cock began hardening in his sweats. Down boy, you aren’t wearing any underwear. “Mya, sorry for just showing up but I just wanted to make sure you were…ok.”

He was the last person she expected to show up at her door. “Merrick… Um…I was going to call you after my bath I…”

Before she could finish her sentence, he walked in and closed the door. She backed up out of his reach. The reaction didn't go unnoticed. Why the fuck would she be afraid of me? The thought annoyed the shit out of him.

What could she say? How about the truth? Before she could think the words came out of her mouth, “Merrick…I’m sorry, I can’t do this right now”, she turned to leave. It didn't make sense. Where would she go? He was in her house and she had no place to run but what the hell.

That was not the response Merrick was willing to accept. Point in fact he didn't even want a response he just wanted her. As she turned to leave he reached out and grabbed her. Spinning her around to face him he pulled her into his arms against his chest wrapping his arms around her tightly. He enjoyed the feel of her body in his arms immensely.

She clung to the front of her robe in hopelessness. This was a fight she wouldn't win and she knew it. He breathed into her neck, she smelled like lavender and wildflowers. When he finally spoke it was in a whisper.

“Mya don't run away, talk to me. Tell me what’s wrong.”

His words were like a truth serum. She felt her resolve slipping. She wanted to tell him anything…everything, she opened her mouth but the words were lost. For the first time in forever she felt safe able to talk to someone. There was too much to say so she said nothing.

Her silence only encouraged Merrick to probe deeper. “Mya, do you want me to leave?” He had to be sure this time for his own selfish reasons. He wanted to hear the words from her sweet lips. “Tell me what you want Mya…” he leaned down and kissed her neck she moaned softly. It was a silent affirmation but he wanted more. He was a man after all and pride was his bane.

Leaving the way she did gnawed at his pride and he wanted her to be sorry. She would have to ask him this time. No she will beg and plead for him. It was only fair. Suddenly…He had a licentious thought. Since she was at a lost for words at the moment maybe he could help her along.

His tongue lashed out licking the droplets of water on her neck tracing a path from her neck to her ear lobe. Taking the lobe into his mouth he nibbled softly. Meanwhile, his hands released the firm grip they had on her hips and traveled up her back to her neck. Giving the precariously wrapped towel around her head a slight tug, it unraveled and fell to the ground in a wet heap.

Her damp hair spilled down her back and around her shoulders. He wrapped his hands around her neck lightly forcing her head up to look at him. He asked again, “Do you want me to stop Mya? I need you to tell me.” Her eyes were closed tight. She wasn't ready to face him, not yet.

Suddenly he heard the distinct ring of his work phone, and then Mya’s cell began to ring.

“Fuck!” He exclaimed, abruptly releasing his hold on her. He glared at her and the passion in his eyes was clear.

Reluctantly he answered. It was Chris telling him that there had been another killing. “Sorry to bother you on a Sunday Merrick, but there has been another murder, the congressman’s wife this time

Mya was simultaneously receiving the same grim news from Brian. This would have to wait…
